More of our family vacation

One of the most special places we stopped was Carthage. We went to see the jail where Joseph and Hyrum were martyred. The bullet holes are still in the door of the room where they were ambushed by the mob. In the picture below, Asher is sitting under the window through which Joseph fell to his death.

The mighty Mississippi was in full force. Storms kept rolling in and the river kept rising. Thunder rolled, lightning flashed and hail fell (though not on us). The end of Parley street was under a lot of water as you can see in the next picture.

The temple was so beautiful!! We felt very lucky to get a session in while there. Hunter loved being there. He says he wants to move to a place where there are more mem bers of the church. It is such a small town but with such big spirit. It almost feels like going home.
